Fort Lewis College Chapter of
The American Association of College Professors
This is the home page for the Fort Lewis College Chapter of the AAUP.
The AAUP exists to advance academic freedom and shared governance, to define fundamental professional values and standards for higher
education, and to ensure higher education's contribution to the common good.
The FLC chapter of AAUP was established because many members of the FLC faculty see that Fort Lewis College is in the process of abandoning
shared governance in favor of top down control on issues that should be in the purview of faculty.
The FLC AAUP chapter is intended to focus the voices of those who would like to see faculty regain control of curriculum, promote fair workloads,
and  improve student education.
We had several great successes last term.  Our proposal regarding increased faculty representation to the Board of Trustees was passed by the faculty senate with overwheling support.  It is now being taken up by the Board of Trustees.

In addition, the faculty senate unanimously supported the AAUP proposal to move faculty with  one-year contracts toward more permanent contracts with improved pay and benefits.
Please join us this term as we continue to work toward protecting academic freedom and shared governance on our campus.
